Christine Curran is by all accounts a Florida girl. Raised in Deerfield Beach and a graduate of Deerfield Beach High School, she is a product of South Florida and understands what makes it move. A graduate of the University of North Florida, where she majored in business, Curran, a singe mother of a daughter, has ventured into the limelight with her company Jello Shot Girlz (Ft. Liquordale Entertainment, Inc.) and is venturing into the realm of reality television.
The host of VIP TV, shown Saturdays on WSVN (Miami’s Fox affiliate) at 4:30, Curran hosts red carpet events across South Florida and gets close to the celebrities who flock here in droves. She is also in early discussions for a reality show based on her company, which sends the hottest girls in South Florida t events, to shake things up.
We sat down with Curran to discuss her success.
IC: How long have you been in the business?
CC: I’ve been modeling and acting for over 5 years. I’ve owned my company for three years. A lot of work, but it is worth it.
IC: How did Jello Shot Girlz materialize?
CC: When the economy took a hit so did all the gogo dancers in town. As the clubs got cheaper and cheaper with shift pay I decided to come up w a way for the girls to make their own $$ while doing what they loved…dancing. It seemed to be a perfect fit and it took off.
IC: What has made the business expand so quickly?
CC: Mainly the fact that I knew so many people, so once I started the company everyone was open with letting my try it at their location. We generate a lot of excitement when we are there, so yes (laughs) it works.
IC: How many girls do you have working for you?
CC: Approximately about thirty on the roster, but we are growing so maybe more by next week.
IC: What is in line with regards to reality shows?
CC: We sold our reality show to an online company but they are in the process of reselling it so hopefully we will make it on tv soon!
IC: Is television the next arena for you?
CC: I currently host for a television show called VIP TV which covers everything south florida, red carpet events and celeb events. It is a great outlet for me to spread the brand name a bit. Everything in this industry goes hand in hand so the more exposure the better all around.
IC: You recently shot a couple scenes in the film ‘Skum Rocks!’ – tell us about that.
CC: We had a blast shoot for Skum Rocks. The guys were awesome. It was a laid back relaxed atmosphere. I’m excited to see the finished movie. I hear it will show at next years Miami International Film Festival, so I am hopping the Jello Shot Girls will be a part of that!
IC: What is it about South Florida that makes this all work?
CC: South Florida is all about sex and sex sells here majorly so my company is a perfect fit. Hot girls, sexy dancing and alcohol makes a great South Florida mix. (laughs) Right?
IC: Yes, you are. Do a lot of the girls see you as a role model, see your hard work behind the scenes?
CC: Many of the girls constantly aske me for advice and help. I’ve had many tell me they look up to me and I’ve made a difference in their lives. So, yes, it means a lot to me to have that positive influence on them.
IC: Is that rewarding?
CC: Definitely I was tired of watching these old guys who owned entertainment companies slave drive these models back when I use to be one so now I can relate to them and they appreciate that.
IC: Where do you see yourself and your business in 3-5 years?
CC: Theres no telling.. I have endless opportunities ahead of me right now. It is pretty exciting, the hard work is starting to pay off. Book us for your next party! (Laughs) We are at jelloshotgirlz.com. East right?
IC: Christine, thanks for talking with us.
CC: Thank you!
